The Gay community welcomes you to Koh Lanta!

GayLanta.net is comprised of, and run by, individuals living permanently on the island of Ko Lanta, all year round.  In an area where many people chose to inhabit the community for only a limited number of months annually, GayLanta.net differs in its approach to visitors; believing whole-heartedly in the fundamental need to inhabit a community full-time in order to offer accurate information and a refined standard of customer service for guests.

Stefan
Visionary, father, spiritual soul – Stefan originates from Sweden and relocated to Ko Lanta in the year 2000 with his children.  Having previously worked within the global tourism and marketing industry, his innovative concept of a gay community on Ko Lanta, fully integrated with the various ethnic groups among the island’s population, has taken many years to be realised.  Driven by an understanding of, and empathy with, the expanding niche market for couples and families within the international HLBT society, he expresses his views thus:-

“My dream is to encourage a cooperative spirit between the local residents and the visiting worldwide GLBT group.  As a gay father myself, I understand only too well the need for a friendly, relaxed environment where modern family units of every type, can meet and unwind, free from prejudice and in harmony with naturally beautiful surroundings.  I believe our tiny, tropical island offers this and much more, and enjoy welcoming all visitors back to the bliss that is Ko Lanta, year after year”.

Jesse

Initially traveling to Ko Lanta during the green season of 2004, Jesse decided to return just two weeks after the Asian tsunami of the same year, when other visitors were running feverishly in the opposite direction.  Having fallen in love with the islands’ diversity and the tolerance of the local population towards all comers, she has been proud to stay and call Ko Lanta ‘home’ ever since.

Formerly officially domiciled within the UK, Jesse was taught by the National Health Service to work  with dilapidated equipment for a pittance, and has incorporated this invaluable lesson within the worldwide marketing, teaching and childcare industries for more than 20 years.  Since relocating to Asia, she has expanded her fields to include work for various non-profit organizations, and unequivocally believes in acceptance and equality for all groups of society, including the four legged kind.

Motivated by an antipathy for discrimination and injustice, and driven by enormous quantities of coffee and toast, Asian culture continues to impart inspiration beyond her meagre innate creative abilities.
